MEV (Maximal Extractable Value)
Value that block producers can extract by reordering, inserting, or omitting transactions within a block.
MEV is the profit a block producer (or someone paying them) can extract by manipulating transaction order within a block. On Solana, sandwich attacks, snipers, and arbitrage searchers are all forms of MEV. Jito's block engine surfaces MEV opportunities through bundles and tips, letting users pay validators to prioritize their transactions over searchers'.
